In our Austin house we have a living room and a family room and I've found we've never actually used the living room. So with Bob's permission, in this house, I took the living room as my office. I am standing at the front door to take this photo. The good news is I've never ever dreamed that I would have an office this wonderful. The bad news is that everyone has to walk through it to the rest of the house, so I'm going to have to keep it neat.

Wow! It's gorgeous! *jealous*
Great office, maximize the space
It looks great. One nice thing is that if you were to have a "business meeting" you don't have to go through the entire house to get to your office.

that is sweet! my office is in the living room, but living room is still a stupid living room. it's a constant battle between the paintbrushes and the couch...
Beth, I like the idea of screens, but I think most of the time, it really won't matter because it's just Bob and me. The only problem will be when we have people over for dinner or something. And that's why they invented closets, right?
Damn, does that ever look authorial!
David, it is the perfect place to eat chocolate. Especially fine Swiss chocolate flavored with cherry and chili. (Not a flavor I would have ever suspected I would fall madly in love with.) (But I did.)
Ever so snazzy. Would love a picture of the kitchen when you've got that all organized.
(My verification word is jhiou which must stand for, "Just How Is Our Uakari?
I second the request to see a picture of the kitchen, and I'm spectacularly jealous of your office, even though I have a pretty decent office myself. Love the wall of paintings too. Wish I could see them. (Aside: MY verification word is "kapvt," which, if it were instead "kaptv," could be a noun describing a person who could not move away from the television, right?)
Totally wonderful!
Now you can write more books for us fans to devour. I lovelovelove it.
I'm so glad you're safely arrived in Texas, though I'll miss you this holiday season. I hope you'll send me your new address so we can keep in touch!
I'm moving in with you!
Ellen
