I'm a writer with four novels and more than two dozen short stories published. The best known is probably my novel China Mountain Zhang. A collection of my short stories, called Mothers and Other Monsters, was published by Small Beer Press in July '05.

I'm not sure I ever want to be a parent, but projecting far ahead, I can see the appeal of having a grown kid. Even better, a grandkid. But all the stuff in between seems like an awfully big hassle.
Having two household children (14 and almost 9) I can certainly say I see the allure of a grown child. The Household Children are fun, but they do take a good deal of maintainance. You seem to have done an awfully good job as E.S.*, Maureen (*evil stepmother).
Madeleine, where is your blog? You mentioned opening it and then never said where it was!
I'd tell you, Maureen, but it appears you found it all on your own.
