On the Move

For the last month Bob has been in the process of being courted for and finally accepting a new job in Austin, Texas. Today I could finally announce it.

Since it has been difficult to think about much of anything else, I have been very lax about posting. Now I will probably write a lot of posts about how it sucks to move.

But I am excited to think that I will be moving to a place with bats and moonlight towers. Oh, and I bought a membership to World Fantasy Convention.

It sucks to move. How will we manage without you?

Maureen lets the fans drop at last!

Just let us know that your lab results are okay and I will join in commiserating over the house move.

I will totally miss you. I hear that Austin is a very cool place and I have been wanting to visit there. It probably has more culture than Twinsburg.

Well if it has to be Texas, Austin's the place.

I feel an electro-magnetic shift coming on...

Austin just got a lot cooler.

And WFC just a lot more tempting.

If you have any questions about Austin, holler. I lived there for five years and (mostly) loved it. The weather leaves a lot to be desired but the food (o! the food) and the people and the arts and the writers more than makes up for it.

Sorry to hear you are leaving, Maureen. I was just checking your blog to see how you are doing, and to see if you might want to come back and teach the 302 course at JCU that might have been (and might have got me canned!). Best of luck in Texas. You can go out for bike rides with Lance.

How wonderful -- both about your move to Austin and about WFC. M. Thomas and I just wrote up an unofficial guide to Austin for WFC attendees, which you can find here if you're interested. (I mostly contributed restaurant suggestions, because, well, food is important.) Good luck with with packing, and welcome!

Wow.

Looks like we won't pursue that job on the "Battle Blimp" in Akron then.

Best of luck on the move.

Meghan just got back from a sustainability conference there and said it was a wonderful place. It's top of our list for grad schools next year. Plus, it's got a cool name...

Good luck with the move!

Maureen,

If there is any way we can ease your transition to Austin let us know. We will be glad to show you around and introduce you to the science fiction community down here.

Holy cow! I can't believe you guys are leaving Ohio! But I wish you the best of luck possible and hope that you love your new home.

That's big news! We moved out here three and a half years ago...then moved a year later, when we bought the house. I never ever want to pack a carton again (but I'm morally certain I will).

My condolences about the packing and stuff...but Austin's pretty nice.
